Cooked Flour Frosting

A frosting that is stable in hot weather, easy to make and not too sweet :) So light and fluffy.

Tips

If your flour+milk mixture has lumps, sift through a strainer to remove them.

Add some cocoa powder or melted unsweetened chocolate to make chocolate frosting.

Substitute vanilla extract with other falvours like orange, strawberry or lemon :)

5 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup milk (fresh/full cream/low-fat)
2 teaspoons vanilla extraxct
250g butter (salted/unsalted) - room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar (not icing sugar)

Instructions

In a small saucepan, whisk milk and flour over medium heat until thickened to a sticky dough. Remove from heat and cover with cling wrap and cool completely in the fridge and then add vanilla.

(Dalam periuk kecil, kacau rata susu dan tepung atas api sederhana sehingga pekat menjadi seperti doh melekit. Alihkan dari api dan tutup permukaan campuran susu+tepung dengan plastik kemudian masukkan dalam peti sejuk dan sejukkan sepenuhnya. Campurkan esen vanilla atau peraisa lain dan kacau sebati.)

Using a hand mixer or a stand whisk, beat the butter and sugar until very pale and fluffy. Rub the mixture in between fingers to ensure that all the sugar granules are dissolved.

(Pukul mentega dan gula halus sehingga pucat dan kembang. Calit sedikit adunan dan geselkan antara ibu jari dan jari telunjuk untuk pastikan tiada rasa kasar gula.)

Add 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder and mix until well combined.

ABAIKAN LANGKAH INI JIKA TIDAK MEMBUAT KRIM FROSTING COKLAT!

(Masukkan 3 sudu besar serbuk koko dan gaul sebati.)

Add in the COMPLETELY COOLED milk+flour+vanilla and beat at a high speed for at least 8 minutes. Frosting may look broken at the beginning but just keep beating it and it will come together.

(Masukkan adunan susu+tepung+vanila yang telah SEJUK SEPENUHNYA dan pukul pada kelajuan tinggi sekurang-kurangnya selama 8 minit. Adunan akan kelihatan seperti tidak akan sebati pada awalnya tapi teruskan memukul sehingga menjadi kembang.)
